Ever wondered what happens when you mix a love for horses with animation? Meet ’Horse Power’, a project by UWA’s online Animated Storytelling class. We are kicking things off with a documentary-style look at the personalities of different horses from across cultures. This video will double as our virtual classroom hub, packed with live Q&As, drawing tips, acting workshops, and editing tricks. From there, our students will create an animated short to send out to film festivals!
Our first trot
It all begins with a grand adventure! From Mongolia to Scotland, California, Nevada, and Iceland—we set off to learn the history, culture, and awesome personalities of horses. And with the help of local artists and stable owners, we will discover what makes each one unique.
Ready to canter
Now it's time to create! Classrooms worldwide will team up to co-create a single, collaborative animated movie. With help from artists, musicians, and equine experts, students will bring their visions to the screen. Best of all? Every character they animate is based on a real, living horse they met in our documentary.

To celebrate, we are sending the final movie to international film festivals, prioritizing submissions within our students' local cities so that they - along with their families and communities - have the chance to see their hard work debut on the big screen.
